Meet the Director

Peter Agertoft arrived on these shores at the beginning of the ‘80s, fresh from the rigorous training programmes and strict discipline that come with being a member of the Danish Olympic sailing team.

His learnings were not in vain, and he quickly put them to work on running a 1200 acre arable and livestock farm in Suffolk. His skill in being able to negotiate crop deals and keep customers and a considerable team of farm workers on an even keel was much in evidence and stood him in good stead for his eventual choice of career – to become a management consultant. Patience, objectivity and the ability to assess and summarise any given situation were just some of the ingredients required to be a success in this field, and Peter spent the next 30 years working for a number of international corporations and FTSE 100 companies.

All the while, having spent much of his time whilst sailing actually building boats as well as helming them, his fervour and fascination for building projects grew and grew, and he ensured that he moved with his family every few years, so that he would have a new project to get his teeth into. Moving to Derbyshire in 2016, his first project was his own house – gutting and renovating the 1920s end of terrace house and garden, as well as adding a small extension to create a living space, prevalent in his native Denmark, where kitchen, dining and sitting rooms come together, with the essential log burner in the corner. He lives and works on the edge of the Peak National Park with his partner. The ongoing debate is whether or not they get a dog!
